EXCLUSIVE: French sales company SND is reporting strong buyer interest on Tommy Wirkola’s high-concept, sci-fi action picture What Happened to Monday?, starring Noomi Rapace and Glenn Close.
In early deals, the production, which is due to shoot in Romania this summer, has sold to Germany and Austria (Splendid), Latin America (Sun Distribution) and Thailand and Malaysia (Sahamongkolfilm International).
“The response of the buyers has been unanimously positive,” said SND sales chief Charlotte Boucon.
Two of Scandinavia’s hottest exports, Norwegian director Wirkola and Swedish actress Rapace, who decided to work together some two years ago after a chance meeting in Oslo airport, have been in Cannes this week meeting buyers.
Rapace will star as seven sisters struggling to survive in a not distant future, where overpopulation and famine have forced governments to undertake a one-child policy.
