North America's national and regional critics' bodies have voted and the results are far from decisive. Whereas last year No Country For Old Men and There Will Be Blood emerged the best film victors, this year sees a spread of critical favourites including Slumdog Millionaire, Milk, Wall-E and Frost/Nixon, although of those Slumdog is looking strongest. But there are some pretty sure things, as the chart illustrates. Heath Ledger dominates the supporting actor votes, as does Man On Wire in documentary and Wall-E in animated feature. The Bfca, Hfpa, SAG, Bafta and Ampas often reach different conclusions to the critics, so this chart only indicates where the land lies in advance of this Sunday's Golden Globes (January 11).
