The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) has revealed this year’s list of artists and executives invited to join the Academy.

The list includes actors Casey Affleck, Emily Blunt, Brendan Gleeson, James McAvoy, and Viola Davis; directors including Danny Boyle, Rachid Bouchareb and Tyler Perry; producers Christian Colson and Paula Wagner; writers including Courtney Hunt and Dustin Lance Black and executives Daniel Battsek and Erik Feig. Only those who accept invitations will be added to the Academy’s ranks of voters. The Academy’s rules state that it could have allowed 166 news members this year, but as in past years some branches endorsed fewer candidates than proposed.

The number of voting members has held steady around 6,000 since 2003.

“These filmmakers have, over the course of their careers, captured the imagination of audiences around the world,” said Academy President Sid Ganis. “It’s this kind of talent and creativity that make up the Academy, and I welcome each of them to our ranks.”
