Olivia Colman continued her awards run picking up the best actress award, making her lack of BAFTA nomination even more glaring.

Lynne Ramsay’s We Need To Talk About Kevin was named Best Film at the Evening Standard Awards, which took place in London last night (Feb 6).

Michael Fassbender picked up the best actor award for his portrayal of a sex addict in Shame and his role in Jane Eyre.

Olivia Colman won the best actress award for her performance in Tyrannosaur. Despite winning this award, a British Independent Film Award in December and the London Critics prize, she failed to pick up a BAFTA nomination.

The best screenplay award went to Andrew Haigh for his second feature Weekend, whilst the Most Promising Newcomers were Tom Kingsley and Will Sharpe for their darkly comic directorial debut Black Pond, which is also up for a BAFTA for Outstanding British Debut.

Irish film The Guard won the Peter Sellers award for comedy and Senna was named best documentary.

John Hurt picked up the first of two lifetime achievement awards this season. He will also be honoured at the BAFTAs.
