The National Society Of Film Critics will select and announce its annual award winners at Sardi’s in New York on January 3, 2010.
Sixty-four members are eligible to vote on any film that opens in the US during the year 2009.
There is no nomination process and in the time honoured tradition of the organisation, members meet, vote using a weighted ballot, and announce all on the same day.
The current chair of the Society is David Sterritt and this will be the 44th annual voting meeting.
Awards will be announced for best picture, actor, actress, supporting actress, supporting actor, director, screenplay, and cinematography.
Should the Society choose to do so, awards will be announced for best non-fiction film, foreign-language film, production design, experimental work, Film Heritage Award and Best Film Still Awaiting American Distribution.
