Fledgling LA-based finance and production company Blowtorch has acquired the horror comedy script The Corporate Zombie Killers and attached Harold & Kumar Go To White Castle's Danny Leiner to develop and direct.
The story tells of a group of temps that try to escape a corporate office park after an outbreak of a zombie virus. Paul Schiff and Tai Duncan will produce with Blowtorch CEO Kelly Rodriques and president Richard Hull serving as executive producers.
Blowtorch's Daniel Schnider, who brought the script to the company, will oversee the project. James Biederman and John Plummer wrote the original screenplay and will be working alongside Leiner to develop the script.
'Once in a lifetime, a script comes along which is beautiful, devastating and life-changing,' said Leiner, who is represented by Nicole Clemens at ICM. 'The Corporate Zombie Killers is none of those, but it is an amazingly hilarious, satirical and action-packed ride in the undying and often overlooked world of corporate zombies.'
Schiff and Duncan recently produced Blowtorch's comedy Tenure starring Luke Wilson, Gretchen Mol and David Koechner.
Inferno is handling international sales here on Tenure and Blowtorch's youth-oriented Spin and Blowtorch recently struck a home entertainment distribution deal with Vivendi Visual Entertainment.
