James Bond has arrived in style in his homeland as Spectre grossed $9.2m via Sony from its first full day of action.
The record Tuesday gross for a film released in the UK combined with Monday night previews for a $15.6m running total after two days.
The equivalent £6.3m haul meant Tuesday haul just beat the £6.2m Friday opening day recorded by Skyfall in November 2012.
Spectre is also released this week in the Netherlands (Oct 29) and across Scandinavia (Oct 30) ahead of multiple territories including the US (Nov 6) next week.
