CineEurope, formerly known as Cinema Expo or Cine Expo, will run June 18-21, 2012.
Exhibition and distribution conference CineEurope will move to Barcelona from its longtime home in Amsterdam, starting with the 2012 edition.
The International Union of Cinemas (UNIC) convention will now be held at El Centro de Convenciones Internacional de Barcelona [pictured] in the city’s Diagonal Mar area (10-15 minutes from the city centre via metro). It had been held in Amsterdam for 15 years.
The 2012 dates are June 18-21.
“The move to Barcelona represents CineEurope’s dedication to better serving the European cinema exhibition and distribution communities,” said Robert Sunshine, Managing Director of CineEurope. “CineEurope management and UNIC consulted with constituents and the overwhelming feedback received was that a move to Spain would be a beneficial change.”
Ad Weststrate, President of UNIC, added: ‘’I am sure I speak for all UNIC colleagues in welcoming CineEurope’s move to Barcelona and our continuing partnership with Bob Sunshine and his team. Our members will now have even more reasons to support the convention in its new host city.”
