The Deauville Festival of American Cinema has awarded its Grand Prix du Cinema Independent to Karyn Kusama's Sundance title Girlfight.
But Christopher Nolan's Memento, the only Deauville competition title which did not premiere in Sundance, won no less than three prizes. The revenge story, which stars Guy Pearce, Carrie-Anne Moss and Joe Pantoliano, walked away with the International Critics' Award, the Cine-Live Award and, in a tie with Ben Younger's Boiler Room, the Jury prize.
Girlfight star Michelle Rodriguez shared the Ralph Lauren acting award with Mike White, who was honoured for his performance in Miguel's Arteta's Chuck And Buck. Maggie Greenwald's Songcatcher won the Public Prize.
