Abigail Breslin has landed the lead role in contagion thriller Peste based on Barbara Marshall’s Black List screenplay. IM Global’s Octane genre unit finances and launches sales in Cannes.

Mark Ponderai of House At The End Of The Street fame is directing the story about a plague that sweeps through a town and forces a girl’s family to make a devastating decision.

Sheryll Clark produces and shooting is set to commence in September.

“Abigail is one of the outstanding talents of her generation,” said IM Global chief Stuart Ford. “Her recent standout performances in genre hits like Zombieland, The Call and the forthcoming Ender’s Game make her a perfect fit for Peste.”

Breslin will next be seen in August Osage County.
