Gloria is about an old woman who visits singles parties.
Chilean film Gloria has won this year’s Films In Progress award in San Sebastian. The programme, now in its 10th year, is aimed at support for finishing uncompleted South American films.
Directed by Sebastián Lelio, Gloria tells the story of an old woman who dreams about a last love and visits singles parties. His troubled romance with another elder will make her face her last years with different expectations.
Sebastián Lelio debuted in San Sebastián in 2005 with The Sacred Family (La sagrada familia), a film that visited 28 international festivals. His next feature was Christmas (Navidad), in 2009.
The winner of the Films in Progress Award will get the cost of the post-production covered and distribution in Spain. It is provided by Daniel Goldstein, Deluxe Spain, Dolby Iberia, Imasblue, Kodak Cinema, Laserfim Nephlilm Producciones, No Problem Sonido and Vertigo Films.
This year the Norteado award has been given to So Much Water (Tanta agua), a co-production between Uruguay, Mexico and the Neteherlands. It tells the story of a divorced father who takes their children on vacation and struggles to keep them happy and united.
The Norteado-Films in Progress Award is granted by Norteado film and provides $5,000 to the winning film, which is then selected for distribution in the Instituto Cervantes world network.
