27th edition runs June 13-17.
Ingmar Bergman’s protégé Harriet Andersson, Finland’s only Hollywood star Taina Elg and Hungarian director Béla Tarr are among the guests announced to attend this year’s Midnight Sun Film Festival.
Taking place in Lapland, Finland from June 13-17, the 27th edition of the festival will include modern films from around the world such as Footnote and The Kid With A Bike, a series of silent film concerts accompanied by live music performances, master classes and a series of train-themed films which include Finnish classics Pikajuna Pohjoiseen from Roland af Hällström and Ville Salminen’s Evakko.
Master classes will be held by the likes of Far Eastern cinema expert Tony Rayns and American acting guru Foster Hirsch.
The full programme of the Midnight Sun Film Festival is still to be completed, compiled by festival director Peter von Bagh and the members of the Artistic Committee, Aki Kaurismäki, Mika Kaurismäki and Timo Malmi.
