Turkey's Malatya Film Festival unveils line-up

The Malatya Film Festival has introduced a new award for the best Turkish feature with the nominations being made up of Cemil Ağacıkoğlu’s September, Özcan Alper’s Future Lasts Forever, Selim Güneş’s White As Snow, Rıza Kıraç’s Little Sins, Caner Erzincan’s Snake, Haluk Ünal’s Hidden Lives, M. Caner Alper andMehmet Binay’s Zenne Dancer, and a collective work by Eric Nazarian, Stefan Arsenijevic, Omar Shargawi, Stergios Niziris, Aida Begic, Hany Abu-Assad, and Josefina Markarian titled Do Not Forget Me Istanbul.

Eight films will compete in the international competition: Phase 7 and The Finger (Argentina) Adalbert’s Dream (Romania) The Mosque (Morocco) The Woman on the 6^th Floor and Michel G., King of the World (France), Taipei Exchanges (Taiwan) andTerri (US).

Also screening during the festival will be The Artist, Tilda Swinton-starrer We Need to Talk About Kevin, and Lars von Trier’s Melancholia.

Organized by Global Mass Communication Studies Foundation and run by Malatya Governor Ulvi Saran, the festival will hold thematic screenings, question and answer sessions with filmmakers, and free film courses for attendees along with other events.

To mark the 50^th anniversary of Turkey’s workers’ exodus to Germany, the festival’s theme will be “Migration.”
