Even before he arrived at this week's American Film Market, David Linde and his Good Machine International (GMI) had closed a large range of sales already on new titles Hero, Ash Wednesday and Zhou Yu's Train, as well as completing worldwide sales on Oscar-nominated drama In The Bedroom.
UniversalPictures bought In The Bedroom for Germany and Japan and Bac Films bought French rights on InThe Bedroom, ZhangYimou's historical martial arts epic Hero and Ed Burns' Ash Wednesday, which stars Burns and Elijah Wood.
Other buyers on AshWednesday includedHelkon SK in the UK, LaurenFilm in Spain, Gaga in Japan, Les Films L'Elysee inBenelux, Smile Entertainment in Scandinavia and Nu Vision in Latin America.
Gong Li-starrer ZhouYu's Train, meanwhile,which went to Sony Pictures Classics in North America, has been sold to Vertigoin Spain, Paradise Agency 2000 in CIS, Rosebud SA in Greece, Skifan in Icelandand Shani Films in Israel. Shani and Skifan also took Ash Wednesday.
Other new buyersof In The Bedroom areFrenetic Films in Switzerland, Spring Cinemas in Taiwan, Hollywood Classics inCzech Republic, Pasatiempo in Hungary, Polsat in Poland, Imagem Filmes inBrazil and Aiwastar Ltd in Bolivia and Peru.
Les FilmsL'Elysee in Benelux took Hero as did Sandrew Metronome in Scandinavia, Rosebud in Greece andItalia Film in the Middle East.
