Apocalyptic thriller set in Barcelona
Leading Spanish producer Pedro Uriol of Morena Films (Cell 211) has teamed up with Rebelion Terrestre’s Alberto Marini (Red) to produce The Last Days, the second feature film from Alex and David Pastor.
The Last Days is a Spanish-language apocalyptic thriller set in Barcelona. A mysterious form of agoraphobia spreads across the world, leaving the entire population trapped indoors. As societal disorder and chaos descend on Barcelona, Mateo finds himself separated from his pregnant girlfriend and must fight his way across the disintegrating city to save her and their baby — without ever going outside.
The project marks the Pastors’ return to their hometown, Barcelona, where Alex graduated from the prestigious ESCAC before directing the Sundance-winning short The Natural Route. Most recently, the brothers lived in New York where they wrote and directed Carriers for Paramount Pictures with Chris Pine and Piper Perabo, as well as developing various projects for Participant Media and Appian Way, among others.
The €5.5m budget film is currently being packaged. Production is set for November 2011 with completed delivery by autumn 2012.
