440 participants from 30 countries attended the third edition of Asian Side of The Doc which was held in Tokyo from March 19-21.

New countries attending this year’s event included Bhutan, Mongolia, Philippines, Vietnam, Qatar, Turkey, Colombia and Mexico.

Beyond The Wave won the Best Japan pitch Award, whilst the best Asia Pitch Award went to Chinese film Home Floating Away. The Best International Pitch went to Love And Enginerering.

There were 131 decision makers at the event, an increase of 30% on last year, which took place in Seoul.

The co-production market and networking event is designed to create reciprocal new co-production opportunities for European and Asian documentary producers and commissioning editors.

Asian Side of the Doc is organised by Sunny Side of the Doc and Bang Singapore, with the support of Media Mundus, NHK, ARTE, France Televisions, CNC, and CNEX.

The next Sunny Side of the Doc event will take place in La Rochelle, June 26th -29th.
