South Korean distributor/sales company CJ Entertainment has done a slew of deals at Pusan’s Asian Film Market, including pre-sales on the Paramount Pictures Japan remake of Ghost to Catchplay for Taiwan.
The remake of the Patrick Swayze/Demi Moore hit is co-produced by CJ Entertainment, Shochiku and Nippon TV. Korean heartthrob Song Seung-heon (A Better Tomorrow) stars in the film and it is set for release in November.
Catchplay also picked up Anna Lee’s drama The Recipe, which made a world premiere in the Pusan International Film Festival’s Gala Presentation section. The company also took erotic thriller Love In Between, Kang Woo-suk drama Moss, and erotic comedy The Servant.
Hwayea Media (Malaysia) picked up the Yunjin Kim-starring music film Harmony and the thriller Secret, starring Cha Seung-won.
Emphasis for Hong Kong bought Moss, and Sky Media for Singapore took The Servant.
“We’ve also had offers for Finding Mr. Destiny even though we only have a 15-minute promo here. We will wait for the American Film Market (AFM) to close deals,” says Kini Kim, senior vice president and head of Internationall Sales & Distribution at CJ.
Finding Mr. Destiny stars Gong Yoo (from the hit TV series Coffee Prince) and Im Soo-jung (I’m A Cyborg But That’s Okay). The romantic comedy is based on a hit musical of the same title.
