Company picks up worldwide rights to the Israeli-German co-production [pictured].
Beta Cinema has acquired worldwide sales rights to Sharon Maymon & Tal Granit’s dark comedy The Farewell Party.
The Israeli-German co-production centres around a group of friends at a Jerusalem retirement home build a machine for self-euthanasia in order to help their terminally ill friend, only to find more and more people asking for their help.
Maymon’s previous feature A Matter of Size, directed with Erez Tadmor, is currently being remade by Paramount, while Maymon & Granit’s short film Summer Vacation ran in competition at this year’s Sundance.
The Farewell Party, which is currently in post-production, was produced by Pie Films, 2Team Productions, United King Films, Pallas Films and Twenty Twenty Vision Filmproduktion. The film was supported by the Israeli Film Fund, the Jerusalem Film and Television Fund, MDM Mitteldeutsche Medienförderung and Yes satellite television.
