Megan Ellison has invested in the new LA-based production, financing and international sales entity which will arrive in Cannes with a slate that includes Kathryn Bigelow’s (pictured) Bin Laden project Zero Dark Thirty currently shooting, a new film from Spike Jones and Bennett Miller’s Foxcatcher.

Marc Butan will serve as president of Panorama Media and Kim Fox is named head of international sales. Panorama will handle sales on original, broadly commercial productions, select Annapurna product and third party titles. More titles will be unveiled in the coming weeks.

“I fully believe in Marc and Kim’s ability to develop and expand this business,” Ellison said. “I consistently see projects that I would like to support in addition to my current slate. Panorama will provide the extra bandwidth which will allow us the opportunity to get involved with these films.”

“I am looking forward to building an operation which suits the needs of both filmmakers and distributors worldwide while living up to the high standards set by Annapurna and its films,” Butan, the former president of 2929 Productions and evp of production at Lionsgate, said.

“There is a great opportunity in the international markets today,” Fox, who most recently served at Inferno, added.” Distributors are seeking, more than ever, high end theatrical titles – exactly the type of product that Panorama will generate.”

Annapurna recently completed Cannes competition entries Lawless, which is at TWC, and Killing Them Softly, which Inferno is selling internationally and CAA represents for US rights.

Ellison’s company is also in post-production on The Master directed by Paul Thomas Anderson and Wong Kar Wai’s long-in-the-works The Grandmasters.
