Los Angeles-based sales agency FiGa Films acquired all rights to Federico Veiroj’s A Useful Life (La Vida Util) at San Sebastian before the festival’s finale over the weekend.

Veiroj’s follow-up to his first feature Acne had its world premeiere in Toronto where FiGa and Veroj initiated discussions.

The romantic comedy follows an overworked programmer at the Uruguayan Cinematheque who finds himself distracted from the job by a woman.

The Uruguay-Spain-Netherlands co-production is a Cinekdoque production in association with Mediapro and Versatil Cinema.

“We are very happy to embark on a relationtioship with Federico,” FiGa Films vice-president of acquisitions Sandro Fiorin said. “We are incredibly proud of his film and know it will have a great life in Europe, North and Latin America. We are ecstactic that A Useful Life went on to receive a special mention at San Sebastian’s Zabaltegi.”
