Freestyle Digital Media will offer filmmakers a new digital platform and through a cloud-based service will enable DVD distribution across retail rental sites, kiosks, by-mail, subscription streaming, pay-TV and specialty markets like airlines, hotels and cruise ships.
Freestyle Releasing co-founder Susan Jackson will oversee day-to-day operations and is joined by evp of business development Steve Harnsberger, a former vp of Sonic Solutions, and evp of theatrical distribution Mark Borde, Jackson’s Freestyle Releasing co-founder.
Freestyle Digital Media will launch on Nov 1 with The Nutcracker In 3D and roll out in November with Nativity!, In My Sleep and Sarah Palin: You Betcha! (pictured).
“We felt it was imperative to be able to offer our content partners a direct channel to the expanding multi-screen ecosystem to enable the growth of their digital distribution business by optimising revenues from every IP VoD channel plus include rental kiosks, streaming subscriptions and the DVD market,” Jackson said.
“We are thrilled to be able to release films day-and-date in theatres on the same day as they launch on the iTunes store, on Amazon Instant Video, on Dish Networks, the YouTube Movie Store and Android mobile devices, and all other cable and internet VoD services. We are growing our new release and content library by actively signing multiple new deals to enable more than a dozen new direct VoD distribution channels we’re delivering to.”
Freestyle Digital Media will supply quality commercial film and TV content directly to all US VoD/SVoD rental DVD/Kiosks and theaters using the latest cloud-based technologies to automate digital workflow.
