Johnnie To’s latest film premiered in Venice on Wednesday (7) and tells of three characters in dire financial straits whose paths overlap when a bag containing $5m in stolen cash falls into their laps.

Lau Ching Wan and Richie Jen star alongside Denise Ho and guest star Terence Yin. Au Kin Yee, Wong King Fai and Milkyway Creative Team wrote the screenplay.

“Johnnie To is an iconic filmmaker with a massive fan following that mirrors Indomina’s target audience,” Indomina Group vice-chairman and CEO Jasbinder Singh said as he announced the North American deal. “This is a natural fit for us. Life Without Principle is another masterpiece that delivers on all levels and stands out as a true original with the intensity and emotion true to a Johnnie To film.”

The Media Asian Films presentation was produced by Milkyway Image and will receive its North American premiere as a special presentation in Toronto.
