Former Relativity executive will oversee acquisitions at Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions.

Former Relativity Media executive Joe Matukewicz is joining Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions (SPWA) as senior VP acquisitions.

Matukewicz will report to SPWA president Steven Bersch.

“We are thrilled to have Joe join us in this key role,” Bersch said.”His experience and taste will be vital as we continue to increasingly ramp up our acquisitions activities, and work to bring more great product into Sony.”

Matukewicz will replace Scott Schooman and Lia Buman, who held vp positions until their departure from Sony in July.

Prior to his position at Relativity, where he headed up acquisitions, Matukewicz was vp of acquisitions and co-productions for Paramount Vantage and director of acquisitions and co-productions at Paramount Classics.
