Japan’s Pictures Dept and Metropolitan have closed a French distribution deal for Toronto entry The Land Of Hope.

Sion Sono’s film is set to receive its world premiere on Friday (7) and depicts a family’s struggle to survive after a tsunami.

Sono wrote the screenplay and the Bitters End production stars Isao Natsuyagi, Naoko Otani, Megumi Kagurazaka, Jun Murakami, Hikari Kajiwara and Yutaka Shimizu.

Pictures Dept and Metropolitan previously collaborated on the 2009 best foreign language Oscar winner Departures.
