Lionsgate has struck an output agreement with fast-rising Leone Film Group in Italy, one of the last territories not covered by the company’s global network of partners.
The deal, finalised during Berlin, covers features from the Lionsgate and Summit labels and includes promotional opportunities on a case-by-case basis with Leone’s Pacmedia promotional group.
“We have closely followed Leone Film Group’s emergence as a major force in the Italian marketplace, and we’re delighted to establish a long-term partnership with them for the distribution of our feature films in Italy,” said Lionsgate Motion Picture Group Co-Chairmen Patrick Wachsberger and Rob Friedman (Wachsberger pictured.)
“Andrea, Raffaella and Gustavo have great and innovative marketing skills and have built a tremendous relationship with exhibitors and broadcasters alike. We also look forward to working closely with their affiliated promotional company Pacmedia on selected worldwide promotional opportunities.”
“Lionsgate has emerged as a major force in the global marketplace, and the Lionsgate brand has become synonymous with a consistent pipeline of commercially exciting and critically-acclaimed films,” said Andrea Leone, president and co-founder with his sister Raffaella of Leone Film Group.
“We look forward to partnering with Patrick, Rob and the rest of the Lionsgate team to elevate their distribution profile in Italy as well as to create exciting new promotional opportunities around the world.”
Lionsgate’s distribution infrastructure is comprised of output deals in 80% of the world’s major territories outside China and India, a self-distribution operation in the UK, the 50/50 IDC joint venture serving Latin America and distribution in China and Southeast Asia through Celestial Tiger.
