Mike Wallis’ Western was funded by New Zealand’s Mi Films and will most likely open in spring, Screen Media president Suzanne Blech said on Tuesday (17).

Inge Rademeyer and Cohen Holloway star in the story about a young Englishwoman kidnapped by an outlaw while journeying to her uncle’s ranch.

“Mike has done the Western genre a huge favour by creating a film that is sure to become a cult classic,” Blech said. “The new wrinkle he throws into a genre that has pretty much seen it all is comic genius.”

“We are absolutely thrilled that Good For Nothing has got a US platform theatrical release as the film was designed to be on the big screen,” Wallis, who also produced alongside Jamie Selkirk and Rademeyer, said. “The response to the film so far has been overwhelming and we look forward to working with Screen Media to bring Good For Nothing to audiences in North America.”

Blech and David Fannon negotiated the deal with Maren Olsen from Traction Media on behalf of the filmmakers.
