Preparation is underway in Hungary, Malta and the UK for production on World War Z.
Production will begin in Malta in late June before heading to the UK. Shooting in Hungary is scheduled to begin in early October.
Brad Pitt will star in the film as a UN researcher conducting interviews with survivors of a global war between humans and zombies.
Marc Forster (Quantum of Solace) is directing from a screenplay by J. Michael Straczynski (Babylon 5, Changeling,Thor) and Matthew Michael Carnahan (The Kingdom, Lions For Lambs).
Pitt’s Plan B is producing with David Ellison’s Skydance Productions. Apparatus, Paramount and Mumbai-based UTV Motion Pictures also have hands in the project.
World War Z is an adaptation of Max Brooks’ novel World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War. Brooks announced at Comic-Con last summer that Paramount had also optioned his books The Zombie Survival Guide and The Zombie Survival Guide: Recorded Attacks.
Paramount plans to release the film in 2014.
