Spanish outfit Imagina International Sales has announced a load of big deals on its titles ahead of Toronto, including Fernando Leon De Aranoa’s award-winning drama Amador to Film Movement for the US and Canada.
Aranoa’s film about a young woman (Magaly Solier) who cares for an elderly man, has also been sold to Alamode for Germany, HGC Entertainment for China, and Eurofilm for Peru, following recently closed deals for several other territories, including Sophie Dulac for France.
Imagina has also secured a number of deals for Jose Ramon Ayerra’s action adventure film Red Eagle: The Movie (Aguila Roja: La Pelicula), off the back of its success at the Spanish box office ($5m). The film has sold to Revolver for the UK, Tiberius for Germany and Austria, Shochiku for Japan, and Imagina is in advanced negotiations with other territories, including Russia.
Finally, the company has also sold Fernando Gonzalez Molina’s teen drama Three Meters Above The Sky (Tres Metros Sobre El Cielo), which took an impressive $14m in Spain, to TF1 for France, Quality films For Spanish speaking Latin America, Sydney Gennaro Films for Brazil, and Carmen Films for the ex Soviet Union territories. Further deals are currently being negotiated.
