Qatar’s first standalone multiplex to open in March.

Qatar Media Services (q.media) is launching the country’s first standalone multiplex in March, as it opens the 10-screen The Pearl-Qatar.

The cinema will have an IMAX screen, private lounge, dining atrium and a VIP theatre. The Pearl is the famed artificial island spanning nearly four million square metres.

q.media subsidiary Gulf Film, the Middle East’s largest exhibition chain, will operate and manage the multiplex. 

In addition to The Pearl-Qatar, the company is adding theatres in Abu Dhabi’s World Trade Centre and Dubai’s Dragon Mart, as well as a flagship cinema in Muharraq Mall in Bahrain.

Two more IMAX screens are planned for Muharraq Mall in Bahrain and at an existing multiplex in Dubai.
