On the day (Mar 9) when management at the post-merger studio were reportedly letting go of approximately 12% of the workforce, Lionsgate chose to announce that Beeks had signed a new contract to continue as co-COO and had been named president of the motion picture group.

While it remained unclear which departments are experiencing cuts the combined workforce after Lionsgate’s acquisition of Summit is believed to be dropping to around 580.

As co-COO Beeks will continue to report to Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer, while in his capacity as president of the motion picture group – a role previously held by Joe Drake – he reports to motion picture group co-chairs Rob Friedman and Patrick Wachsberger.

Beeks will be responsible for operations, administrative matters and strategic growth and has direct oversight of home entertainment and Lionsgate UK.

Newly appointed motion picture group president of production Erik Feig will spearhead creative decisions on the Lionsgate and Summit slates and will continue to report directly to Friedman and Wachsberger.
