Jim Jarmusch’s vampire romance Only Lovers Left Alive, starring Tilda Swinton and Tom Hiddleston, has been added to the Cannes Film Festival’s Competition line-up; four more titles to be included in Out of Competition and Un Certain Regard.
The UK-Germany-US horror-romance, produced out of the UK by Jeremy Thomas’ RPC, is the sole British production in this year’s Competition lineup.
Only Lovers Left Alive stars Hiddleston as underground musician Adam who reunites with his lover Eve, played by Swinton, after he becomes tired with the direction of human society. The pair have a love story that spans several centuries. But their love is tested by Eve’s wild and uncontrollable sister Ava, played by Mia Wasikowska.
The film, which also includes John Hurt and Anton Yelchin, will compete for the Palme d’Or alongside 19 other nominees [click here for full list].
Other additions to the programme include the inclusion of Shoah director Claude Lanzmann’s latest documentary, The Last Of The Unjust (Le Dernier Des Injustes), to the Out of Competition line-up.
The film centres on Theresienstadt, a concentration camp located in what is now the Czech Republic, where more than 150,000 Jews were held before being sent to death camps in Treblinka and Auschwitz. It focuses on Benjamin Murmelstein, last president of Theresienstadt’s Jewish Council, who had to deal daily with Adolf Eichmann, one of the main Nazi organisers of the Holocaust.
Produced by Synecdoche, the film was being sold at Berlin’s EFM by Le Pacte in February.

Un Certain Regard will have three additions to its line-up: Hinar Saleem’s My Sweet Pepperland; Katrin Gebbe’s feature debut Tore Tanzt; and Lucia Puenzo’s Wakolda.
The Cannes Classics 2013 selection will be announced on April 29.
