Copenhagen-based sales outfit unveils EFM line-up.
Psychological teen drama The Word, from Polish director Anna Kazejak, is to be sold at Berlin’s EFM next month by LevelK.
The sales outfit, which has offices in Copenhagen and New York, also has The Turning, Free Range and The Contest in official selection at the Berlin International Film Festival (Feb 6-16).
LevelK will also bring Mona Fastvold’s The Sleepwalker and Berit Madsen’s Sepideh, both of which will screen at Sundance this month.
The Word is inspired by real events and centres on Lila who coerces her cheating boyfriend Janek into a series of unfortunate events
It was co-written by Kazejak and Magnus von Horn, and produced by Lukasz Dzieciol for Opus Film (PL), in co-production with Jesper Morthorst of SF Film Production (DK).
Support comes from Opus Film, SF Film Production, Polish Film Institute, Eurimages, Danish Film Institute, Pomerania Regional Film Fund, Mainstream, Cameo Film, TV2 Denmark.
Kino Swiat will release locally in Poland this year, and LevelK will handle International distribution.
Australian feature The Turning stars Cate Blanchett, Rose Byrne, Miranda Otto, Richard Roxborough and Hugo Weaving. Released by Madman in Australia, where it generated $1.3 million theatrically, it will have its international debut in Berlin as a special gala premiere.
Free Range, screening in Forum, is Estonian auteur Veiko Ounpuu’s third feature; Danish feature The Contest will screen in the Kinder section of Generation; and The Word will premiere as a part of the Generation section.
