The Pixel Market reveals 2013 competition titles

Power to the Pixel (PttP) has named the 30 cross-media projects from around the world selected to take part in The Pixel Market 2013 (Oct 16-17), the finance and co-production market held during the Cross-Media Forum (Oct 15-18) in association with the BFI London Film Festival. 

Eight titles have been selected to compete for the ARTE International Prize for The Pixel Pitch, an award of €6,000 ($8,100), announced at a ceremony on Oct 17. The titles include:

The Cross-Media Forum will also include a Focus on Canada, including cross-media creators and producers as well as financiers from Canada Media Fund, the Bell Fund, Telefilm Canada, the Ontario Media Development Corporation and the National Film Board of Canada.

All 30 Pixel Market projects will also be in the running to win one of four additional prizes. These include the first ITVS Impact Pixel Market Prize for the best social impact project (fiction or non-fiction), worth £3,000 ($4,800) in development funding; and the beActive Pixel Market Prize for best scripted content (fiction), which comes with an award of £2,500 ($4,000).

Other awards include the Merging Media Pixel Market Prize offering automatic selection Canada’s Merging Media Conference and Pitch 360 Competition in November, with return travel and accommodation in Vancouver; and the Cinekid Pixel Market Prize for best children’s project (aimed at 4-14 year olds), which offers automatic selection to the Cinekid for Professionals co-production market in October, with return travel and accommodation in Amsterdam.
