Irish actress Sarah Bolger has been cast in the lead of Canadian writer-director Francesco Lucente’s 3D fantasy fairytale adventure Starbright which will begin shooting in the US in early 2011.
Bolger, who is currently shooting Mary Harron’s gothic horror film The Moth Diaries in and around Montreal, will play a young woman who escapes into a world of fantasy and fairytales to hide the pain of a childhood tragedy. The role of the archangel Raphael will be played by veteran American actor James Earl Jones.
The German-US co-production is being produced by Michel Morales’ Munich-based Aviv Pictures with Jörg G. Neumann’s investment company COPEX-Group, Lucente Filmed Entertainment, and Michel Shane and Anthony Romano’s Hand Picked Films, among others. UK sales agent Aspect Film will be handling international sales.
Lucente’s previous film Badland, about an American soldier unable to cope with the realities of daily life after his return from a tour of duty in Iraq, starred UK actor Jamie Drevin, Grace Fulton, Chandra West and Joe Morton, and was made in 2007.
