Russian actor Grigory Dobrygin [pictured] among new cast to join Anton Corbijn’s adaptation of John le Carré’s bestseller.
Prinicipal photography has commenced on Anton Corbijn’s A Most Wanted Man in Hamburg, Germany.
Corbijn’s adaptation of John le Carré’s 2008 bestselling novel of the same name stars Philip Seymour Hoffman, Rachel McAdams, Willem Dafoe and Robin Wright. Rounding out the cast are Russian actor Grigory Dobrygin, playing the eponymous wanted man, Turkish actress Derya Alabora and a host of German stars including Nina Hoss, Daniel Brühl and Franz Hartwig.
The film is supported by FilmFörderung Hamburg Schleswig Holstein, Medienboard Berlin Brandenburg and the DFFF, and has been adapted for the screen by Australian writer Andrew Bovell. Gail Egan and Andrea Calderwood for Potboiler, Stephen Cornwell and Simon Cornwell for The Ink Factory, and Malte Grunert for Amusement Park produce, with Helge Sasse for Senator Film Produktion as co-producer.
Tessa Ross (Film4), le Carré, Sam Englebardt and William D Johnson executive produce.
FilmNation are handling international sales on the thriller, which has already sold to the likes of Mars (France), Senator Film (Germany), Momentum Pictures (UK), Italia Film (Middle East), Sun (Latin America), HGC (China), Tomson (Hong Kong), Multivision (India/Pakistan) and Ster Kinekor (South Africa).
