EXCLUSIVE: FilmDistrict will distribute the comedy in the US and Lakeshore International and Sierra/Affinity will jointly handle pre-sales when they introduce the project at the AFM.
Lakeshore Entertainment and Sidney Kimmel Entertainment are producing and writer-director Steven Brill is scheduled to commence production in Los Angeles in January.
Banks will star in Walk Of Shame as an ambitious TV news anchor who launches uncharacteristically into a wild night of partying after she believes she has lost a dream job.
When she awakens penniless in a stranger’s bed the following morning the aspiring broadcaster learns she has in fact got the job and must trek across hostile Los Angeles neighbourhoods to be on air by early evening.
Lakeshore chairman and CEO Tom Rosenberg will serve as producer alongside Gary Lucchesi and SKE chief Sidney Kimmel. Rosenberg said the project was in a similar vein to the 1985 Griffin Dunne comedy After Hours directed by Martin Scorsese.
“Elizabeth Banks is a brilliant actress,” said Rosenberg. “She can make you laugh, cry and in this movie she will have you rooting for her every step of the way.”
“Walk Of Shame is a terrific project with immense potential, and we’re looking forward to working with these very gifted funny people,” said Kimmel.
Banks is in the current release Pitch Perfect and will shortly reprise her role as Effie Trinket in The Hunger Games sequel Catching Fire. She is represented by UTA and Untitled Entertainment.
Brill’s directing credits include Drillbit Taylor, Mr. Deeds and Without A Paddle. He is handled by UTA.
