Morgan Spurlock and Karol Martesco-Fenster will lead the initiative to create 30 three-minutes docs focused on the power of ideas. GE and video publiser Cinelan are sponsoring four Filmmaker Lounge receptions to run during Toronto from Sept 9-12.

A press breakfast is scheduled for Sept 12 at the Doc Day Conference to introduce the scheme, in which Toronto, Sundance and Tribeca will provide “integrated support” for the films, which will premiere as curated collections at festivals one day prior to their online distribution.

The project will feature award-winning documentary filmmakers like Joe Berlinger, Lixin Fan, Liz Garbus, Alex Gibney, Steve James, Barbara Kopple, Ross Kauffman and Jessica Yu.

The collection will premiere at the start of 2012 at film festivals and the full roster of filmmakers will be announced in the autumn along with festival partners, supporters and distribution outlets.
