Husband and wife writer/director team Ant Neely and Sloane U’Ren sold their house to finance the period/sci fi drama, which is currently in post.

The Imbetweeners actor Henry Lloyd-Hughes, Camilla Rutherford (Gosford Park) and Patrick Godfrey (The Duchess) are heading up the cast of period sci fi drama Dimensions which is currently in post.

Written by composer turned screenplay writer Ant Neely and directed by his wife Sloane U’Ren (who previously worked in the art department on films including Batman Begins and Being John Malkovich), the couple sold their house to finance the film, which they shot on a budget of £180,000 in Cambridge, UK. It was originally budgeted at £1.2m.

Neely and U’Ren have also produced the film through their production company Sculptures With Dazzling Complexity.

Set in the 1920s and 1930s, Dimensions explores the idea of going back in time to a moment in childhood. The dynamic film-making couple describe it as H.G. Wells’ Time Machine meets A Beautiful Mind.

“We have been lucky enough to get support from a huge number of industry colleagues and friends. Although the budget falls into the ‘micro’ category, we think you will be very surprised by the quality we have managed to achieve,” Neely told Screen.

The pair are now in talks with UK distributors with a view to a theatrical release.

They are also in development on their next project, The Man In The Fedora, a sci fi film about planting memories, set in the 1960s.
