EXCLUSIVE: The LA-based production, sales and financing company will co-produce the Liverpool-set crime episodic with the UK’s Red Union Films and Pinewood Pictures.
The production calls for eight 60-minute episodes and will be based on The Killing Pool novels by Kevin Sampson, who along with IM Global founder and CEO Stuart Ford co-curated the inaugural two-day Dream Factory symposium held in Liverpool, England, this week.
Production on The Killing Pool is scheduled for early 2015. The property will centre on drug surveillance specialist DCI Billy McCartney, who in the first series heads for a showdown with his nemesis while investigating an international drug ring.
Red Union partner Sampson (pictured, centre), Ford (pictured at left) and Pinewood Pictures director Steve Christian (pictured at right) made the announcement this week.
“I’m delighted to be making The Killing Pool with such eminent and experienced partners as Stuart and Steve,” said Sampson. “And to bring this calibre of production to our home city gives Stuart and myself an added buzz. Baltimore, Copenhagen, Louisiana, Malmo – now Liverpool Noir is set to make its mark.”
”The Killing Pool has all the ingredients to be a phenomenally successful international thriller series and we’re delighted to be on board with Red Union and Pinewood,” said Ford.
Dream Factory was part of the ongnoing International Festival Of Business.
