The London-set police thriller is the feature directorial debut of Declan O’Dwyer, who is also gearing up to direct Broken Cove later in the year.

Luke Evans and Robert Carlyle are attached to star in Dogs Of Law, a London-set action thriller to be directed by first time feature film-maker Declan O’Dwyer.

Evans will play an undercover police officer tasked with investigating corrupt officer (Carlyle) in the film, which has been written by Matthew Cooke and Vincent Lund.

Michael Ford is producing the $3.7m (£2.3m) project for his Birmingham-based production outfit Infinite Wisdom, with funding from regional agency Screen West Midlands. Gareth Jones is executive producing.

Ford is currently in talks with sales agents and financiers with a view to going into pre-production in June for a summer shoot in Birmingham and London. He told Screen that the project was “very international in its vision”.

Meanwhile, O’Dwyer, whose TV credits include Wire In The Blood and Being Human, is also gearing up to direct Broken Cove, starring Bernard Hill, Linda Bassett, Danny Dyer and Jason Flemyng, which is due to shoot at the end of 2011 in Northumberland.

O’Dwyer has written the script for the ” film noir western,” about two warring families set in a deserted coastal village in post-war 1950s Britain. He says the project has been influenced by the work of the Coen Brothers. It is being produced by O’Dwyer’s own company 4th Wall Films, together with Robson Green’s Newcastle-based company Coastal Productions.
