The companies are collaborating on an untitled comedy to star Kevin Hart and Josh Gad in a rare original project to go into production involving Miramax.
Jeremy Garelick will direct the film, written by Garelick with Jay Lavender and developed at Miramax. The story centres on a man who provides best man services for socially challenged people.
Miramax’s Adam Fields and Will Packer are producing and Screen Gems president Clint Culpepper will oversee the project on behalf of Screen Gems.
Hart will next be seen in his concert film Kevin Hart: Let Me Explain in July. He starred in Screen Gems’ Think Like A Man and will be seen in the studio’s upcoming About Last Night and Think Like A Man Too.
Gad appears in Fox’s current release The Internship [pictured] and his credits include Jobs and Thanks For Sharing.
Garelick and Lavender previously wrote the screenplay for The Break-Up starring, while Garelick’s writing credits include script contributions to The Hangover. He will direct the upcoming project Sick Day, currently in development.
