Dermot Mulroney has joined the crowdfunding platform’s first feature, currently shooting in Houston, Texas.
Michael Cohn wrote and directed the thriller about four teenage boys who are involved in a tragic accident. Mulroney will play the pivotal role of Justin, the lead boy’s father.
“Dermot Mulroney has a long history with out-of-the box, independent films and we couldn’t be more excited for him to play the role of Justin in Sacrifice, our first feature film,” said JuntoBox Films COO Nina Yang Bongiovi.
“As our community continues to grow, we’re transitioning our greenlight schedule to follow a more genre-driven format which we feel will strengthen our slate of microbudget independent films across all major categories.”
JuntoBox plans to greenlight this year one from each of the following genres – comedy, drama, action, horror and family.
The company is also expanding its mentorship programme to allow talent to greenlight specific genres and work hand-in-hand during the development and production process of each film.
JuntoBox chairman and first mentor Forest Whitaker will officially greenlight the company’s fifth film at the Los Angeles Film Festival in June and reveal the next mentor for the comedy genre.
