EXCLUSIVE: Joe Stephenson directorial debut set to star former Screen Star of Tomorrow and Submarine actress Paige and Weekend star New.
Sumbarine actress and former Screen Star of Tomorrow Yasmin Paige, Weekend star Chris New and Scott Chambers of uwantme2killhim? are attached to drama Chicken, which is due to shoot in early 2013.
Joe Stephenson, director of Sky Arts’ series In Love With, will make his directorial debut on the feature produced by his own outfit B Good Picture Company Ltd, alongside Tina Galovic of Bold Turtle Productions. Raiomond Mirza is executive producer.
Freddie Machin and actor New have adapted Machin’s play of the same name, in which two brothers [played by New and Chambers] living in a caravan on someone else’s land have their lives turned upside down with the arrival of a new land-owner. Paige will play the new land-owner’s daughter.
The producers are in discussions with UK distributors and sales companies.
Paige was nominated for a Best British Newcomer BIFA in 2010 for her performance in comedy-drama Submarine. New was nominated for Best British Newcomer at the 2011 London Film Festival for his performance in indie hit Weekend.
B Good Picture Company’s slate includes an Untitled BFI-supported Noel Coward biopic, written by Martin Sherman (Mrs Henderson Presents, Bent).
