EXCLUSIVE: An international thriller based on the true story of an audacious diamond heist is to star Ed Speleers (Downton Abbey), Will Poulter (Wild Bill) and Alfie Allen (Game of Thrones).
Gateway Films will begin principal photography on Plastic on Jan 7 and will shoot in Miami, London, Manchester and Brunei.
Written by Chris Howard, Julian Gilbey and William Gilbey, the film will be produced by Terry Stone, Dan Toland and Chris Howard, and directed by Julian Gilbey (Rise of the Footsoldier).
Speleers and Poulter play university students Sam and Fordy, who run a credit card fraud scheme with characters Yatesy (Allen) and Gurmet (Sebastian De Souza).
But when they steal from the wrong man, the boys find themselves threatened by sadistic gangster Marcel, played by Machete’s Danny Trejo.
They soon need to raise £2m and pull off a daring diamond heist to clear their debt.
“Plastic is a fast-paced international thriller and a fascinating story of greed, wealth and the power of money,” said producer Stone.
“The cast is superb and bring together the right mix of intensity, intelligence and confidence required to tell this story. We can’t wait to get started.”
The cast also includes Emma Rigby (The Physician) as a fellow student who helps the gang, Brian Austin Green (90210) and UFC cage fighter Mike ‘The Count’ Bisping.
