EXCLUSIVE: Swipe Films has boarded Mike Figgis’ erotic thriller, Suspension of Disbelief, as UK theatrical distributor.
The film stars Sebastian Koch (The Lives of Others), Lotte Verbeek (The Borgias), Emilia Fox, Julian Sands, Kenneth Cranham and Frances De la Tour.
The feature will have its UK premiere at London’s East End Film Festival on July 6. Swipe will release it in cinemas in the UK and Ireland on July 19. To promote the film, Figgis will conduct a series of Q&As across the country
Blurring lines between fiction and reality, the story is about a literature professor who becomes implicated in the murder of a mysterious young French woman.
The film had its world premiere at the Rome Film Festival.
Content Media is the international sales agent on the film. Producers are Vito di Rosa of Sosho and Mike Figgis of Red Mullet. The film was written and directed by Figgis, with Carola Ash and Nimmi Saraf as executive producers. It is a RedMullet and Sosho production.
Swipe Films’ Frank Mannion said: “This marks the third collaboration between Swipe Films and Mike Figgis. We previously acted as the sales agent for Mike’s feature documentary CO/MA, (which Lionsgate released in the UK) and his controversial erotic thriller, Love Live Long, starring Sophie Winkleman.
“Mike is the sort of director that every distributor dreams of working with – he is tirelessly doing a series of Q&As across the country to support the film. The fact that they all sold out so quickly in advance shows the respect he is still held in among cinema-going audiences in the UK.”
