Morgan Freeman and Pierce Brosnan are attached to star in Danny DeVito’s feature adaptation which is due to begin shooting in Ireland in 2012.
UK sales company Intandem is to handle international sales on Danny DeVito’s The True Confessions Of Charlotte Doyle, starring Morgan Freeman and Pierce Brosnan.
DeVito has written the screenplay for the adaptation of the bestselling book by children’s author Avi (aka Edward Irving Wortis) about an adventurous young girl who braves the high seas aboard a ship with a ruthless captain and a mutinous crew, set in 1830.
The part of Charlotte Doyle is yet to be cast. Hanna actress Saoirse Ronan was previously attached.
“Charlotte Doyle is a passion of mine and I want it to be an inspiration for all kids throughout the world,” said DeVito who is also producing the film together with Lori McCreary for Revelations Entertainment, Michael Weisler for Clear Black Films and Beau St.Clair for Irish DreamTime, in association with Subotica Films.
It is set to start shooting in Ireland in 2012.
