Revolver Entertainment has taken UK rights to Hideo Nakata’s Un Certain Regard selection Chatroom.
The film stars rising British actors Aaron Johnson, Imogen Poots, Matthew Beard, Hannah Murray and Daniel Kaluuya.
The deal was done with WestEnd Films, which is handling worldwide sales.
The story follows teenagers who meet online and encourage each other’s destructive behaviour.
Enda Walsh wrote the script. Producers are Alison Owen and Paul Trijbits at Ruby Films and Laura Hastings-Smith. Developed and co-financed by Film4, Chatroom was backed by the UK Film Council and Molinare.
Revolver is planning a unique online marketing campaign for the film.
Developed by Film4 and the UK Film Council, Chatroom is financed by WestEnd Films in association with Notting Hill Films, Film 4, the UKFC and Molinare. The film is executive produced by WestEnd’s Sharon Harel Cohen, Eve Schoukroun, Maya Amsellem and Film4’s Katherine Butler.
This marks this first Toronto that Revolver is attending since launching its new production arm Gunslinger, which produced UK hit Shank.
