Warner Bros. UK has taken all UK rights to the medieval action thriller Ironclad from ContentFilm International.
Co-written, co-produced and directed by Jonathan English (A Good Woman), Ironclad tells the true story of a motley crew of tough, battle hardened warriors who withstood several brutal and bloody months under siege from King John and his army. Shot on location in Wales,
the movie stars Paul Giamatti, James Purefoy and Brian Cox.
Produced by Mythic Entertainment’s Rick Benattar and Andrew Curtis, the movie was written by Jonathan English, Erick Kastel and Stephen McDool. Warner Bros. UK plans to release the film theatrically in the first quarter of 2011.
Jamie Carmichael, President, ContentFilm International, said: “One of the biggest independent movies shot in the UK last year, Ironclad brings an intensity of action and spectacle that we believe will really excite UK audiences. What’s more, with Warner Bros.’ unparalleled distribution network and marketing expertise, we’re confident that we’ve found the right partner for the movie in the UK.”
Mythic Producer Benattar said: “We are thrilled to be working with Warner Bros UK on Ironclad and could not have asked for a better partner. They have shared our vision and passion for the film and their expertise in releasing commercial fare is second to none.”
Mythic Producer Curtis said: “We couldn’t be more pleased and proud. In Warner Bros UK, we have a partner that will release Ironclad as we had always hoped, and as they have so successfully done with hundreds of other action movies.”
