United Agents has inked a deal with London-based literary agency Ed Victor to exclusively represent all of its clients in their film, TV and theatrical work.
EV’s roster includes Frederick Forsyth, Jack Higgins, Edna O’Brien, John Banville, Nigella Lawson, Tina Brown, Andrew Marr and Eoin Colfer. It also represents literary estates including Douglas Adams, Raymond Chandler and Iris Murdoch.
Charlie Campbell for Ed Victor and Georgina Lewis for UA will head up the arrangement, under the direction of chairman Ed Victor and St John Donald, managing director of UA.
Victor said: “Times are changing, and the selling of film and TV rights is an increasingly complex business.
“Up until now, we have worked with a number of top agencies in London and Hollywood on a case-by-case basis. But now we want a close, collaborative partnership in the selling of these rights with a single agency.
“We are convinced that, by being in business with the best in the business, UA, we will provide the most effective handling of our clients’ dramatic rights.”
UA’s Donald added: “In the run-up to Cannes, we are delighted to announce the addition of EV Ltd’s clients to our list of dramatic rights.
“A large proportion of the films made each year are based on books, and there are more outlets than ever for the sale of film and TV rights. We already love working with Ed and his colleagues and have no doubt that this arrangement will provide even more opportunities for all our clients.”
