Anti-poverty organisation Oxfam Novibhas become the principal new partner of the International Documentary FestivalAmsterdam (IDFA).
The partnership is set for one year with the optionfor a three-year extension. Oxfam will contribute $90,198 (Euros 72,000) to thefestival's organisers.
IDFA is now planning Oxfam NovibDay, with proceeds to benefit the charity, to take place during the festival onDecember 1. That day, five films from the festival programme will be screenedand discussions will be held about ridding the world of poverty.
IDFA screens about 300 documentaries each year. Thefive selected for Oxfam Novib Day will hope tostimulate discussions about problems in developing countries.
Public broadcaster VPRO Television has again signedon for another year as a sponsor of this year's festival, which runs Nov 23 toDec 3.
